Job Description

As a result of growth within the firm, we are seeking a ‘change leader’ to drive data governance globally. This role will report to the Head of IT, EMEA & APAC with a matrix reporting line into technology leadership in the US.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of Data Governance domain expertise gained through both formal training and from experience of working in a data governance function, preferably within a Fixed Income domain, or within a Regulated Financial Services organization. Strong leadership, communication and influencing skills, and demonstrable executive presence are required, as is an in-depth knowledge of tools and processes pertinent to the creation of this important function.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and institutionalize a comprehensive data governance approach and policies across the firm:
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders to establish data Inventories for Product, Customer, Entity and Employee Data.
  • Establish and evolve a data quality measurement framework and additional frameworks that ensure:
    • data lifecycle transparency for stakeholders, including clients (where applicable)
    • compliance with applicable Regulatory requirements (e.g. Data Lineage)
    • effective protection of Intellectual Property and mitigation of associated risks
  • Define the organizational roles needed for effective execution of the program
  • Establish a Data Management Maturity (DMM) framework to monitor the firm’s progress
  • Create and institutionalize a comprehensive Data Standards Framework:
    • Data Classifications for all Enterprise Data
    • Data Provisioning
    • Metadata
    • Data Quality
  • Work with 2nd line teams (Compliance, InfoSec, Risk) to define and implement controls around data discovery, classification, protection and destruction, managing their effectiveness and monitoring metrics/indicators.
  • Create and deliver training / workshops to educate and inform.
  • Provide program roadmaps and status reports to stakeholders

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Administration, or a related field.
  • A demonstrable track record of successful Data Governance work in Financial Services.
  • Experience of the EU GDPR regime and other data regulations (e.g. BCBS 239)
  • A minimum of ten years' experience in the industry.
  • Experience working in an organization with a hybrid-cloud IT Infrastructure.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
