WHO ARE YOU

We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer to join our Engineering team at JOOR. This person will be a part of growing our data pipeline architecture and building the foundation for our future data efforts. The ideal candidate is a person that will be excited to build out a platform and tools that are used by data scientists and data analysts.

JOOR’s data platform philosophy is that stakeholder teams own the pipelines themselves, with the platform team helping build the tooling to let them do this. Similar to a DevOps philosophy, we want the actual data manipulation as close as possible to the consumers of that data. This means that we’re not looking for someone to write and maintain ELT pipelines, we’re looking for someone who wants to build the platform and help others do it. We are using the latest technologies based on GCP which includes Alooma, Airflow, BigQuery and DBT to start, with more infrastructure yet to build.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Build and maintain the data platform at JOOR, which houses extremely valuable wholesale industry information.
• Work with Data Scientists and Data Analysts to understand their use cases and build the platform they need. 
• Help assemble large, complex data sets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
• Work multi-cloud, combining technologies on both AWS and GCP
• Follow industry best practices and help define future patterns for Data @ JOOR

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

• Bachelor’s degree, engineering degree preferred
• 2+ years of experience in engineering
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL
• Experience building enterprise data analysis pipelines
• Experience with GCP
• Experience with Alooma, Airflow, BigQuery and DBT or similar technologies
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Datadog a plus
• Practical Python experience a plus
