About the Role:

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join and play a critical role in our growing and evolving Data function. In this position, you will implement machine learning models into critical business processes, forecast industry trends, and build data pipelines. You’ll utilize your expertise querying databases, programming, and experience with machine learning and advanced statistical techniques to solve high-priority problems and generate strategic insight for stakeholders. The Data Science team has an ambitious roadmap and we’re looking for someone to elevate the team by upgrading current models and building new ones.

If you have experience building models that have been deployed to solve business problems, love manipulating data, and are looking to grow as a data scientist in a fast paced environment, then this role could be for you!

What You’ll Do In this Role:

• Build and upgrade models related to improving our ability to price effectively in the freight auction marketplace
• Utilize industry data and key indicators to build forecasting models that predict freight market price changes
• Collaborate with and provide analytic and machine learning support for key teams across the organization (such as Sales and Operations)
• Query databases and utilize programming languages (such as Python or R) to constantly improve our modeling capabilities and continuously look for ways to add value to the business
• Partner with the larger data team on data-driven analysis, key insights, and reports on KPIs

How You Know this Role is For You:

• You have a Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field
• You have 3+ years of experience manipulating data sets and building statistical models
• You have working experience building models that have been deployed to production and have added tangible value to a business
• You have extensive programming experience in a language such as Python or R
• You have experience querying SQL databases and working with data in business intelligence tools like Tableau or Looker
• You’ve worked with a variety of machine learning techniques such as clustering, dimensionality reduction and decision tree learning
• You have experience with advanced statistical techniques such as regression, sampling, simulation, and time series forecasting
• You're looking to grow your career in Data Science!
