THE ROLE

The engineering team at Mack Weldon is reinventing the buying experience for our category with a best-in-class shopping experience on mobile and web. As a Data Scientist, your mission will be to turn large volumes of data into actionable insights that inform business decisions, strategy and the overall direction of Mack Weldon. You will study customer behavior, marketing campaigns, and new features and bring data and insights into every decision we make. As one of our first Data Scientist you will get the opportunity to come in and establish our data science practice from the ground up.

OUR TECHNOLOGY

Our Data Science toolkit is being established, but utilizes RedShift, SQL, dbt, Periscope and Looker.

WHAT YOU’LL DO EVERY DAY

• Collaborate with marketing, merchandise & planning, product and operations & finance departments to define business questions and identify opportunities for data-driven improvements
• Build queries, aggregations and or statistical tests by extracting and cleansing data, combining and organizing data sets using advanced analytic tools
• Build dashboards in Looker to deliver data findings and insights and help non-technical stakeholders be able to regularly track KPIs
• Help design and analyze rigorous A/B experiments and build advanced analytic models to support informed, data-driven decision-making and action planning
• Document and communicate data insights and recommendations to stakeholders across the company and advocate for a data-driven culture internally and externally

WHAT WILL SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS

• 3+ years in industry experience as a data scientist or data analyst and a Master's degree in a quantitative field
• Coding skills for analytics and data extraction—being proficient in SQL, Postgres, R, Python, Pandas
• Excellent communication skills—being someone who values building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and enjoys explaining complex topics in simple terms
• A strong understanding of statistical modeling and data analytic methodologies, algorithms and data structures
• Knowledge of relational databases, information architecture, data warehousing, ETL and SQL
