Job Description

Do you have a passion for monitoring, maintaining and advancing database systems? Are you up to date with the best practices and emerging trends in database security and emerging database technologies? Does working in a collaborative environment establishing and maintaining database standards make you contemplate leaving your current role?

If so, you are in the right place! We are looking for someone who will design, install, configure, audit and maintain enterprise and internal database systems with ease.

This position requires someone who is experienced in reviewing database performance trends and identifying opportunities for improvement.

 The Database Administrator will report directly to infrastructure team lead and work together with the rest of management team and employees. They will be responsible for contributing to the creation and maintenance of database entities for Tipico USA. The position holder ensures this is done by doing the following:

  • Engaging in the operation and automization of private and public cloud database infrastructure (AWS) 
  • Operating the database applications on enterprise and internal tool Level 
  • Managing the performance optimization and tuning of Tipico´s mySQL databases 
  • Providing self-service tools for developers 
  • Evaluating Cloud Database Solutions
  • Implementing solutions using IaaS approach
  • Consulting and advising colleagues on questions related to databases
  • Act as escalation point for internal development and operations teams 
  • Executing changes according to ITIL methodology
  • Implementing security controls as per documented requirements

Qualifications

  • University degree: Bachelor´s Degree in Computer Science or related field 
  • Proficiency: 3 years of experience in the administration of database systems 
  • Strong Database skills: Deep knowledge with mySQL, practical experiences in building CI/CD pipelines with Terraform and profound knowledge with other provisioning tools (Puppet or Ansible) 
  • Cloud technologies: Above average knowledge of one of the cloud computing technologies (AWS) 
  • Scripting: Knowledge in Bash or Python 
  • Standby: Available for on-call duty
