In order to most effectively prevent injuries in a given operational environment, we work closely with each client across many dedicated and leading-edge teams, including client services, data and engineering, IT security and others. Each safety program is tailored to the needs of the workers on the ground and the managers who oversee them. The result is an actionable and scalable safety solution that seamlessly becomes part of a facility’s daily routine and is proven to prevent workplace injuries by as much as 64%.



POSITION OVERVIEW:


As Director of Analytics at StrongArm you will play a vital role in scaling our data offerings both internally and for our clients. You will be leading new feature development, data analytics, reporting, and insights delivery for StrongArm. As a member of the Data Team, you will have access to a massive dataset of IoT sensor data focused on improved workplace safety. You will be a key player in developing new features and insights to improve the lives of workers using analytics and data science. In this role, you will be highly collaborative - with our Client Team, Product Team, Engineering Team, Data Team, and our clients.


The ideal candidate for this position has an established success record within the field of analytics, leading a team, and executing on strategic objectives to drive business growth. This individual should be obsessive about using data to drive value and decision making. We are looking for a driven leader who thrives in a fast-growing start-up making a tangible difference in the lives of industrial workers.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead Analytics within StrongArm. Define and own all critical elements of the function: technical reporting, adhoc analysis, insights, and integrations. Determine and execute on high-level analytics strategy to provide continuous value to our clients.
  • Manage a team of analysts and associates. Recruit, hire, and manage additional high-performing team members as needed to support our growth.
  • Build and execute on project plans for multi-quarter analytics roadmap items. Manage week to week sprints.
  • Collaborate with the Product Team, Client Team, and clients on a daily basis. Determine effective and scalable strategies to build relationships and tell stories through data.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Engineers, Product, and Business Teams to ensure our data products meet business needs, and are continually improving.
  • Execute on successful data rollouts of the platform in a range of safety contexts, including data visualization, ergonomics, behavioral science, and sensing technologies.
  • Manage and determine path forward for cloud-based database systems used for data analysis.
  • Ensure solid analysis principles and data practices are used throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Ensure high quality data integrity for all underlying data sets and reports. Determine strategy for monitoring.
  • Utilize data monitoring tools to evaluate programs and internal data structures. Utilize insights to make recommendations on a path forward for other business units.

KEY REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience in data analysis, business analysis, engineering, consulting, statistics, mathematics, or other similar analytical roles. Minimum 3 years in a direct people management function.
  • Expertise conducting data analysis that involves databases and data visualization platforms. SQL, Python, Excel, Github, Google Sheets are a must.
  • Significant experience with Databricks/Jupyter/notebook environments, R, or other scripting languages.
  • Significant experience within BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, or Google Data Studio. 
  • A passion for using data to craft insights, tell stories, and use visualizations to help solve real-world problems. 
  • Experience giving presentations to C-Suite and executive leadership. Ability to translate complex findings and technical concepts in a clear, easy to understand way to both technical and non-technical audiences. Able to clearly define, measure, and action on KPIs.
  • Significant experience defining and leading complex projects which impact multiple teams. Able to navigate a variety of business requirements to deliver effective solutions.
  • Significant experience in all steps of the data transformation process, including but not limited to connecting data sources, wrangling and cleaning data, identifying gaps, and developing insights.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, experimentation design, scientific methods.
  • Mastery working with a variety of data sets. Detail-oriented and meticulously organized. Expert in aggregating, auditing, and manipulating large data sets efficiently and accurately.
  • Significant experience working in a fast-paced cross-functional environment, prioritizing assignments, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously and independently.
  • Desire to grow, learn, solve problems, and expand responsibilities within the Data Team in a fast-paced start-up environment.
