About the Role:

  • Lead and manage a team of three data scientists, including an evaluation scientist
  • Be an ambassador and advocate for the benefits of Data Science approaches including how to leverage data science and machine learning in our healthcare delivery platform Commons
  • Be an ambassador and advocate for the benefits of experimentation and evaluation in service of care and business objectives
  • Lead the development of algorithms for member population management to guide the development of a need-modulated care delivery model grounded in data (retrospective and prospective/predictive intelligence)
  • Maintain a strong understanding of organizational strategy and goals, help keep your team aligned
  • Work closely with the Data Product Manager to ensure excellent resourcing for projects that meets the needs of the business as well as team through career growth and engagement
  • Player-coach involvement, hands-on contribute to the development of algorithms for member population management in support of the team
  • Foster data science best practices, identify and drive adoption of appropriate MLOps tools to productize data science solutions for replicable, reliable solutions integrated into core products


Requirements for the Role:

  • Keen awareness of latest developments in data science and machine learning including prediction, forecasting, interpretability and explainability, and causal inference 
  • Expert-level knowledge of statistics and probability (practice and thinking)
  • Strong knowledge of common data science processes and best practices from rapid prototyping (feasibility and ROI estimates) to deployment
  • Knowledge of emerging MLOps tools (e.g., DVC) to productize data science solutions (replicability, reliability, model versioning, monitoring) and general concepts, including various machine learning approaches, data management, visualization, validation, and productivity tools
  • 10 years of relevant experience in data science or similar work (at least five of which are in industry, not academia)
  • 3 years of management (or leadership) experience
  • Stellar communication style
