Compass is seeking a Director of Research to join Compass Development, Compass’ new development marketing division. You will report to the Head of Compass Development and will work closely with our national design, marketing, sales, and business development groups. As the Director of Research you will lead a team of analysts keeping abreast of general real estate market trends in the new development landscape across the United States, as well as providing market intelligence to help guide developers, institutions, and agents in maximizing the value of their real estate holdings throughout the lifecycle of a project. You will build and continue to elevate a best-in-class research program that differentiates Compass and drives a competitive advantage in the marketplace through market expertise, analysis and insight.

At Compass You Will:

• Identify, collect and mine various data points to gauge the health of the residential real estate market nationally, and more specifically in regions where Compass operates or is looking to operate
• Produce a diverse set of reports for internal use as well as for developers, institutions, and agents, such as market studies, highest and best use case studies, unit mix analyses, and unit-by-unit pricing models

• Be the go-to resource on what projects are currently on the market as well as what is coming to the market in each region and in each key neighborhood
• Keep track and report on macro- and micro-economic trends that would influence the health of the domestic real estate market such as employment statistics, industry trends and demographic shifts that affect local real estate markets
• Build, organize and maintain key proprietary databases

• Articulate key insights for internal and external communication
• Present analyses, insights, and trends to senior staff in addition to agents and clients
• Write, edit and organize production of all market research reports and contribute to broader national reports
• Contribute to special research reports or whitepapers on unique national market economic or industry trends
• Manage and delegate responsibilities to a growing team of real estate analysts nationwide

What We're Looking For:

• BS or MS preferred, with strong academic record in real estate development, real estate finance or urban planning
• Strong interest in national real estate development as well as familiarity with the domestic real estate market and real estate transactions
• Self-starter who can work independently as well as in a collaborative environment
• Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills
• Ability to manage a local and national team
• Ability to manage and manipulate large data sets
• Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and succeed under pressure without compromising attention to detail
• Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Powerpoint)
