  • A track record of value-creation in previous organizations, using the technical and communications tools of data science.
  • Advanced knowledge of R or Python for data science, including reproducible research processes, data exploration, manipulation and visualization, and statistical modeling.
  • Comfortable performing research in a product and business-driven, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively with peers across business and engineering teams.
  • Outstanding communications skills, including the ability to speak clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences, present insights to groups, and write clearly.
  • Enjoys mentoring teammates and teaching what you’ve learned.
  • Able to scale your impact through team leadership and technical project management.
  • Statistical and mathematical depth equivalent to a Masters in Applied Statistics, either from a degree program or experience.
  • At least three years of data science experience in industry, or an advanced degree plus one year of industry experience.

Extra Credit for:

  • Experience with Ed-Tech or online marketplaces
  • Experience with search systems, recommender systems, or information retrieval.
  • Experience with advanced techniques such as NLP, Bayesian methods, statistical model selection, econometric modeling, or optimization.
  • Experience with interactive data visualization tools such as Shiny, Dash, or D3.
  • Open Source or professional community contributions.

  • Parental leave for both mothers and fathers to be able to take some quality time in bonding with their new addition to their family
  • Comprehensive Medical & Dental Benefits
  • Mother’s Room
  • Quiet Room
  • Company Events (Bring Your Child to Work Day, Field Day, Camp TpT, Hackathons etc.)

An Insider's view of Teachers Pay Teachers

What are some social events your company does?

Every month a different team in the office will host a Teacher's Lounge. These can be anything ranging from a pumpkin-carving contest, to Office Olympics, where teams of TpT-er's represented a variety of different countries to compete for Office Olympic gold.

Technical Recruiter

What projects are you most excited about?

My team works on the cloud infrastructure that we run all of our applications on, and we’re excited about creating pre-production environments for every pull request a developer opens. Using Kubernetes, we'd create temporary environments that mimic production but are isolated for testing purposes. This empowers our team to build with confidence.

Lucas Chi

Engineering Manager

What are some things you learned at the company?

One of our company values is “We Learn and Grow Together”. The first few members of the Schools team started right around the same time, so we really had to embody that value! We were building a new set of features and got to make a lot of decisions. Looking back at the code we were writing when I started at TpT, we’ve definitely learned a lot.
