Market Research Lead
Squarespace is seeking an experienced research leader to develop a sophisticated understanding of our customers and competitors to help accelerate our growth. With millions of website across the globe, we have an incredibly diverse customer base. We want to better understand them and their goals, and to use that understanding to improve our product, marketing, and operations.
As our first dedicated market researcher, you will establish best practices and channels of collaboration, while communicating high impact, actionable insights that influence the business. Leveraging your innate curiosity, data-driven approach, and penchant for storytelling, you will collaborate on brand and creative development, go-to-market plans, and marketing optimization to drive conversion. As an empathetic voice of the customer and the market, you will create strong cross-functional partnerships to harness your strategic insights into impact. This position reports directly to the CMO.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and execute best-in-class qualitative and quantitative research from scoping through execution, analysis, and presentation of findings
- Proactively interpret research findings into actionable insights that influence marketing plans and business strategy
- Serve as the subject-matter expert to cross-functional partners, making market segmentation and customer personas accessible to the organization
- Collaborate on custom research projects to drive marketing and communications strategy and execution, both at a brand and product line level
- Develop a deep understanding of Squarespace’s product, user needs, brand positioning, and competitive landscape, and partner with Marketing and Product on go-to-market plans and communications
- Partner with Analytics to effectively test and measure marketing effectiveness, and to execute experiments tied to concrete marketing objectives
- Evaluate and lead the relationship with potential external research partners
QUALIFICATIONS
- Extensive experience in applied customer research within the consumer tech industry
- Highly analytical, with thorough business experience with statistics and a breadth of research methods;
- Master’s degree in behavioral/social science or related field preferred
- Command of a breadth of research methodology, with the judgement to identify the right approach for a given business challenge
- The ability to distill complex questions into testable hypotheses and research plans, as well as large amounts of data into actionable recommendations
- Demonstrated success in a high-growth environment, driving impact and influencing product and marketing decisions amid ambiguity
- Excellent communication, storytelling and influencing skills; experience engaging and and collaborating with senior leadership
- Strong project management skills and self direction; ability to balance competing priorities
- Customer orientation and solid product intuition
