Mgr - Multiplatform Forecast & Analytics
Position Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the media research team that supports advertising sales efforts for Discovery, Inc., with a specific focus on forecasting Discovery’s video ad inventory across both our owned & operated TV Everywhere offerings and on partner platforms.
The Manager of Multiplatform Forecasting & Analytics team will be responsible for executing the full workflow of Discovery’s digital ad inventory forecast, from statistically evaluating the variables that may be needed for a wide variety of forecasts (from weekly to multiyear forecasts), optimizing the ingestion of data needed to drive the forecast models, provide top-level reporting of the results and responding to strategic/ad-hoc analyses to answer key business questions from internal clients.
This position calls for a candidate who can balance the demand for a strong quantitative data analysis skill set while still thrive in a team setting. The candidate will be called upon to interact frequently with internal clients in Finance, Pricing & Planning and Ad Operations to ensure optimal forecasts. And as part of the larger Measurement & Strategy group within Ad Sales Research, the ideal candidate will also be called upon to work with coworkers to deliver analyses that explore the intersection of digital video and linear TV viewing behavior.
Responsibilities
1. Initiative: The individual should be comfortable with accepting ownership of their forecasts & analytics, and be able to create new analyses from ideation to execution with minimal supervision.
2. Teamwork: We are looking an individual comfortable with interacting daily with co-workers from research, finance and ad operations and be able to succinctly summarize their projections in a user friendly and concise manner.
3. Curiosity: The ideal candidate will be comfortable accepting feedback from co-workers and open to exploring new ideas & explanations behind the changes seen in Discovery’s overall digital video traffic and testing out if any of these ideas can be used to create a better forecast.
Requirements
* 2-5 years experience creating, generating and incrementally improving forecasts are a requirement.
* Experience with digital media measurement services (Freewheel, Adobe, Comscore) are a requirement.
* Experience with linear TV viewing data (Nielsen, Comscore, Smart TV datasets) are a plus.
* Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (Statistics, Business Analytics, Data Mining or Data Science preferred).
* Proficiency with statistical software (SPSS, JMP, SAS) or applied experience with Python or R.
* Must have legal right to work in the United States.
