The Role:

The New Markets Strategist is a K-12 industry expert that can help Newsela analyze and prioritize new market opportunities domestically and internationally. You will accelerate Newsela’s growth into new countries and domestic market segments by working cross functionally with our Marketing, Product, Content, and Sales teams to not only ensure Newsela prioritizes the right new market opportunities, but you will also play a part in the formation of the go-to-market strategy within each segment. You will help drive analysis and prioritization for international expansion and ultimately inform our new market strategy and execution. Over time, you’ll build the foundation and framework for scalable market expansion templates and new markets business case production.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

Reporting to the Director of Business Development, you will get to spearhead Newsela’s first International Expansion efforts and shape our long-term execution strategy for years to come. Leveraging your past expertise, you’ll get to build entirely new market strategies from the ground up and help Newsela’s execution team flourish. You’ll also have the opportunity to collaborate with the Product team to translate country-specific product and content requirements into our overall product roadmap and content acquisition strategy. You will get to help architect the future of education, enhance how schools and teachers engage students, and provide time-saving approaches that allow educators to design customized learning for different levels of learners. Your work will directly impact our ability to scale Newsela’s global reach, bring our products to more educators and students, and enable accessible, engaging learning that empowers students.

Why We’ll Love You:

With 5+ years in strategy consulting, you have advanced financial modeling skills and deep expertise in business case production, specifically in the K12 education market. Either client-facing or internally, you have produced a successful recommendation for an EdTech company to enter a new market. You leverage previous experience working across multiple industries to build on what worked, filter out what didn’t, and design data-backed business cases from scratch using the latest research strategies and frameworks. You’re also an expert project manager, able to manage complex, deadline-oriented projects across multiple cross-functional stakeholders. Advanced Excel skills is a must, and additional data analysis program experience (SQL) is a bonus.

About Newsela:

One of the fastest growing tech companies in K-12 education, Newsela was founded on the principle that while every child learns differently, they all deserve a rich learning experience that ignites a love of learning. We built our platform based on learning science research to deliver the most engaging, authentic content to modernize how teaching happens in the classroom.
