Principal Data Analyst
The Senior Data Analyst will help us redesign our entire subscription management data warehouse, and the way we surface that information to the company. By writing clean SQL code and building easy-to-read Looker reports, you will help Newsela access better views of the health of the company, and novel ways to look at our future. In addition to helping drive financial health for our business, you will take a deep dive into our Content and People data to help optimize our operational efficiency as we scale.

Reporting to the Manager of Data Science, you’ll get the opportunity to work across departments---Finance, Sales, Data Warehouse, to name a few---to establish a foundational layer of our reporting as we look to scale exponentially. You’ll also get to beef up your technical skills by learning from data scientists and engineers, as well as members of the core technology team.
Why We’ll Love You:
You have three to five years experience as a financial or business analyst at a subscription-based company. You love data, particularly querying large databases, and synthesizing a variety of data points to draw novel insights using SQL, BI tools like Looker, as well as CRM systems like Salesforce or comparable. You understand the importance of having a strong baseline understanding of the business, enabling translation into SQL logic. You enjoy building dashboards and visualizing data, and have worked in an environment where data modeling is key to driving business insights.
