What You’ll Do

As the Principal Data Architect on the Veeva Data Cloud team, you will conceptualize and blueprint the architecture and data pipeline for Veeva Data Cloud. You will focus on visualizing and designing the large scale data solutions and environments, to lay a strong foundation for the suite of data products and according to the business needs.

You are passionate about data, and the overall related initiatives such as data quality, security, and processes. You’re comfortable with a range of technologies and understand the benefits and tradeoffs of technical stack and design decisions.

You’ll be a part of a small team focused on building Veeva Data Cloud from the ground up. 

  • Conceptualize and design the data architecture for a new suite of products
  • Play a hands-on role in building and executing on the architecture design
  • Own the product architecture end-to-end and continuously improve design and administration
  • Own data governance with clever data definitions and reliable processes
  • Assess technologies based on the products requirements
  • Integrate Big Data tools and frameworks to support the product
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure architecture is designed to support the product requirements, including R&D, Product Management, Health Data Management, Data Science, QA and DevOps
  • Maintain and support the solution, while constantly improving it according to needs

What You’ve Done

  • 10+ years of hands-on technical experience, with 2+ years focused on data architecture
  • Demonstrated experience with design and iterations on infrastructure and application data architecture, administration and design, including data governance, data models, metadata management, performance, and data security
  • Proven experience in both open and closed source relational and non-relational databases such as MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Redis, Cassandra, MySQL, Athena, etc. 
  • Deep knowledge and hands on experience on big data and cloud computing technologies including Hadoop, Spark, Hive, HBase, etc.
  • Performance tuning all the way to the infrastructure level 
  • Designing and POC for big data solutions in ETL structures and tools
  • Vast understanding of AWS platform services
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on delivering high quality product
  • Proven experience building products in Big Data (i.e., tens of billions of records), distributed computing and cloud

Nice to have

  • College degree in math, computer science, systems engineering or a similar technical field
