We are hiring a Head of Operations. This role will be to work 45 hours per week with our Head Strategy in order to manage an overall team and business operations as our early-stage startup prepares to scale our product and user base.  Consider this role as a blend of Chief of Staff and COO for an early stage B2B and B2G company with a small team. 

We are looking for a candidate who has extensive experience leading a team, managing projects, and refining operations processes. Our team is virtual and based in New York City. But we have an office in Newark, NJ (temporarily closed). We don’t have set hours --rather, we focus on milestones. We are open-minded, solutions-driven, and totally into research and data. You will be responsible for:

People Operations:

  • Managing company payroll and benefits operations
  • Establishing policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Leading recruitment and orientation for new hires
  • Establishing policies that promote company culture and vision
  • Write and submit monthly reports to the Head of Strategy in all matters of importance

Finance:

  • Responsible for monthly sales audit and financial reporting
  • Coordinating tax preparation and filings with the company accountant
  • Supports with quarterly finance presentations and projections
  • Assist Head of Strategy in fundraising ventures
  • Participate in expansion activities (investments, acquisitions, corporate alliances etc.)

Systems:

  • Leading bi-weekly team meetings
  • Establishing effective product management systems to ensure the Product Team stays on deadline
  • Researching and analyzing our team model to ensure effective scalability and operations & business growth

Pay and Perks:

  • $80,000 annual contract for 4 months to FT salaried position with benefits. 
  • $125 Monthly Wellness stipend
  • Unlimited vacation time
  • Company laptop; ability to work remotely

Requirements:

  • Experience leading a team of 10 or more
  • At least 5-year operations/ finance experience (ideal experience with online accounting ie Freshbooks)
  • Experience working with HR/ Payroll software ie Gusto
  • Previous experience at an organization/company that scaled growth more than 30% Y/Y
  • Major bonus points if previous employment includes public interest or civic tech org/company
