Job Description

As a Scientific Research Manager for the Tow Center for Developmental Oncology, you will oversee the conceptualization, development, and implementation of scientific research projects.  The Scientific Manager will coordinate scientific operations, manage end-to-end grant proposal activities including writing and organization, and intramural and extramural communications.

You will: 

  • Work with the TCDO Director and Members to conceptualize new research activities of the Center. This includes conceptualization of individual and collaborative laboratory research proposals, such as collaborative NIH R01, U01 and P01 program project grants, and assistance with the preparation and writing of grant proposals.  
  • Oversee the recruitment of project participants, organization of instruments and materials, the development of new institutional and research initiatives in the TCDO.  The Manager will forecast resource needs, prepare and manage budgets, and ensure budgetary compliance of funded projects. 
  • Oversee the implementation of collaborative projects and program projects in the TCDO, including extramural and intramural projects, such as the current Geoffrey Beene, CureSearch, Mark Foundation, and U54 program projects.  This includes communication among project participants and funders, organization of milestones, and preparation of project reports and manuscripts.

 

You need:

  • PhD degree in life sciences is required, with a documented record of excellent scientific research and writing
  • Experience in cancer biology, translational science, or oncology is preferred
