Job Summary
Graphika seeks a full time Senior Analyst with expertise and experience in disinformation and information operations on social media to join our Innovation Team.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead in-depth and rigorous research on information operations and disinformation campaigns globally:
- Proactively identify global disinformation threats, investigate specific threat actors, report on assets linked to those threat actors and write in-depth reporting on disinformation campaigns analyzed.
- Use OSINT techniques to rigorously analyze and attribute sets of social media assets.
- Expertly use, develop and teach the Graphika suite and appropriate social media analysis tools:
- Generate state-of-the-art maps of social media terrains, providing expertise on segments, groups, communities, discussion leaders, and topics present in these online conversations.
- Identify and leverage other analytical tools that may contribute to the analysis of social media movements.
- Deliver reports based on data generated from network maps and other analytical tools, providing analysis on movements infiltrated by sock puppets, efforts to interfere with elections on social media, extremist threats online, hate speech campaigns, or other issues.
- Write and synthetize outputs for clients, partners and publications:
- Write rigorous reports, memos, briefing papers with the appropriate structure and tone for each output / audience.
- Keep track of media manipulation and propaganda detection, including emerging threat actors and strategies; compile academic literature reviews and/or analytical notes for internal and external purposes.
Qualifications and Skills
Qualitative research skills:
- Ability to compile in-depth reports on geopolitical situations with a quick turnaround, using a wide variety of sources
- Familiarity with OSINT methods, ability to automate OSINT a plus
- Strong writing skills, ability to concisely communicate complex findings to multiple audiences
- Understanding of how communities are formed on different social media platforms
Quantitative research skills:
- Comfortable analyzing/aggregating and deriving insight from larger social media datasets (Excel required, python/R preferred).
- Utilize open source / custom code as appropriate for analytical objectives and investigations.
- Experience communicating quantitative analytical results and outputs to non-technical audiences.

Other Considerations:
- Academic backgrounds in political science, international affairs, conflict studies are a plus
- DC or NY preferred, Bay Area considered
- Experience working for/with major Silicon Valley companies (Trust and Safety, Threat Intelligence, Investigations) a strong plus
