Founded in 2019, Flex is an early stage NYC-based FinTech startup that is building the infrastructure to enable flexible bill payments for all Americans, starting with a very common and very large expense: rent. Flex enables its users to pay their rent throughout the month on a schedule that better fits their finances, rather than paying the full amount on the first of each month. As a Senior Analytics Engineering, you will get to build the practice from the ground up. You will define and own the data model our analysts work in and will provide technical leadership to both the analyst and data engineering teams. We work with a modern stack (bigquery, dbt, looker) where you will have significant input on future system designs.

What you’ll do

• Own BI tools like dbt and looker
• Enable analyst teams and self service users by outlining best practices, building documentation and training end users
• Own the “core” of analytics modeling at Flex, allowing analysts to be more agile while reducing risk 
• Build out workflow for analytics team: how do we make data “production ready”
• Provide technical leadership for data modeling, metrics, visualization, etc

Who you are

• Backgrounds in analytics, data modeling and engineering
• Care about the logical structures underlying data, not just getting the “right” answer
• Experience modeling data and processes used across the entire company
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses
• Experience with dbt
• A track record of improving processes internally and externally, a willingness to teach others how to work with data
• Ability to see the big picture, understand strategic trade offs, anticipate future needs
• Expert level SQL skills, build clean models, optimize poorly performing code, troubleshoot and improve other’s code
