Description
EPAM's Financial Services Practice is looking for exceptionally talented people to join our team of world class engineers. Our clients are some of the world's largest and most innovative banks, investment banks and wealth management institutions.
We are looking for a Big Data Engineer that will work on the collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing of huge sets of data. The primary focus will be on choosing optimal solutions to use for these purposes, then maintaining, implementing, and monitoring them. You will also be responsible for integrating them with the architecture used across the company.
Remotely anywhere in the US. Business trips might be required in the future. Ability to cover a few hours in PST.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Selecting and integrating any Big Data tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities
• Implementing ETL process
• Monitoring performance and advising any necessary infrastructure changes
• Defining data retention policies
• Elaborating on technical design of new features
• Investigating production issues

REQUIREMENTS

• BS degree in an associated field or other advanced certification along with equivalent experience
• Proficient understanding of distributed computing principles
• Proficiency with Java, Hadoop v2, MapReduce, HDFS
• Experience with building stream-processing systems, using solutions such as Spark-Streaming
• Good knowledge of Big Data querying tools, such as Hive and Impala
• Experience with Spark RDD/DataFrame API using Scala
• Experience with integration of data from multiple data sources
• Knowledge of various ETL techniques and frameworks
• Experience with various messaging systems, such as Kafka
• Experience with Cloudera platform is a plus
