Atom Finance is building the next-generation investment research platform. We’re looking for a Data Engineer to build scalable data infrastructure for our rapidly growing company. This is an opportunity to join an innovative startup as an early member of the Data team, where you’ll play a critical role in making sure that data is up-to-date, trustworthy, and accessible to the entire organization.

We’re building a foundation of robust, scalable technology to power analytics and data products, and we’re investing in tools, processes, and culture to make data core to everything we do. There’s a lot of work to make sure our systems can scale, so this is an ideal role for someone who is interested in developing best-in-class data infrastructure to take us through our next stage of growth.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain scalable, efficient, and well-tested data pipelines. We’re using Fivetran, dbt, AWS DMS, and other tools for ELT.
• Optimize the ways we store and query data in our data warehouse (Redshift) and other storage systems like S3.
• Orchestrate data pipelines and their dependencies. We’re currently using AWS Step Functions to coordinate containers running on Fargate.
• Develop systems for data observability, monitoring, testing, and alerts.
• Take the lead on data governance and structure of databases such that data needed to inform Growth and marketing is easily accessible and structured for immediate use.
• Maintain a system and process for data hygiene across the organization.
• Collaborate with other data teammates as well as engineering, product, and growth teams to maximize the impact of data in the organization.

Who you are

• 7+ years professional experience in data engineering or a related field like analytics engineering or infrastructure engineering.
• Hands-on experience writing production quality code (Python preferred).
• Strong understanding of SQL, query optimization, and database architecture.
• Obsessed with thinking through all the ways systems might fail.
• Always looking to prioritize simplicity and reproducibility.
• Demonstrated experience with business intelligence and strategy with respect to data across an organization.
