Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

We are looking to add an additional Data Engineer to our team to help us as we work to improve our ability to easily and effectively leverage our data, maintaining it as a competitive advantage and a primary driver of value for the business. Our teams, including our Data team, work across functions to create solutions, as we strive to power the world’s largest marketplace for fashion.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will do things like:
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and accuracy of our data.
- Work closely with analysts, product managers, engineers, and other business partners to define and build new pipeline features.
- Enhance and maintain our data pipeline from ingestion into our data warehouse, transformation by DBT models, and visualization on Looker.
- Help lay the groundwork and support efforts to use our data in new and meaningful contexts.
- Establish and maintain SLA’s/SLO’s for key business dependencies.
- Solve challenges in architecture, security, anti-fraud, performance, scalability, personalization, optimization, payments and more.
- Collaborate with other engineers on code review and QA.
- Work with the team on refining our approach to building data-driven features at scale.
- Guide best practices for data collection to meet downstream data modeling and product needs.
- Support the analytics team, providing guidance to ensure quality in our data modeling.
- Mentor and sponsor other engineers.
The following might describe you:
- You have 3+ years experience in the field
- You have experience building, maintaining, and architecting significant technical aspects of a data operation.
- You have experience managing a data pipeline, and working with ETL’s, allowing for easy movement of data and transformations.
- You have knowledge of, and opinions on, system design, database design, naming, and simplifying complex services.
- You have advanced knowledge of SQL, and are familiar with scripting languages such as Python or Ruby.
- You have an understanding of operational concerns related to deployment, migrations, configuration, and provisioning.
