About the role

We’re seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our team. Your role will be to analyze data, interpret results, training models, and expand Carbyne’s algorithmic product features using the latest in computing and machine learning technologies. You will join our CTO’s team to lead Carbyne's R&D mission to design, develop, and maintain our world-class emergency collaboration platform.

Here’s what you’ll be working on:

  • Applying machine learning algorithms to optimize 911 workflows, predict emergency events and improve emergency response
  • Building NLP Models for emergency services and working on 911 data.
  • Building, validating, testing and deploying predictive models using machine learning techniques to explain or predict behavior and solve a variety of real world public safety problems
  • Design and build data and ML pipelines, data visualizations/dashboards, and prepare data for ML
  • Bring a project from requirements gathering through to delivery of the technical solutions based on business requirements while meeting quality, security, and accuracy
  • Evaluate and learn about new cloud technologies to provide a competitive market perspective
  • Verify functionality and quality of projects before release to ensure acceptance criteria are met
  • Identifying, collecting, and exploring the right data used for predictive modeling and algorithm development.
  • Performing and leading developments using machine learning techniques in one or more of the key areas like natural language processing, computer vision, information retrieval, entity recognition, product classification, and recommender system.





  • You have 5 + years of work and research experience in the machine learning field with a deep understanding of machine learning and interest in applying it at scale.
  • You have proven experience with building and customizing NLP Models for production workloads
  • You have experience with data cleaning, preparation, and featurization and selection techniques.
  • You have experience working with large data sets to solve problems.
  • You have experience with deep learning libraries like TensorFlow and/or PyTorch is highly desirable as well as experience with AWS.
  • You have/had hands-on experience with SQL, Python, Java or Scala and the ability to write reusable and efficient code to automate machine learning pipeline and data processes.
  • You have effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • You have the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while working independently and in teams.
  • Basic understanding of experimental design (such as A/B experiments) and statistical methods
  • Ability and experience in extracting insights from data, and summarizing learnings/takeaways
  • Experience with Excel and some dashboarding/data visualization (i.e. Tableau, Mixpanel, Looker, or similar)
  • BSc in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, or relevant fields.

 

Bonus points for:

  • Advanced degrees in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operation Research, Machine Learning or other quantitative fields
  • Advanced experience with experimental design and statistical methods such as causal Inference.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and manage relationships with partners coming from both technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Experience giving data presentations with graphical or data visualization tools Preferred qualifications Comfortable in a Linux environment Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), e.g. Redshift
