The Role 

BuzzFeed is looking for an experienced software engineer to help us build the next generation of machine learning infrastructure. We need your help and expertise to build tools and platforms to allow data scientists and engineers alike to iterate quickly on training, evaluating, and deploying models. Your work will affect the way readers around the world experience the best content on the internet. 

You’ll report to a Director of Engineering in New York, surrounded by passionate people who are generous with their time and want to help you grow at BuzzFeed. You’ll work with engineering, product, design, and data colleagues globally across time zones. 

You Will 

• You will leverage cloud providers to architect, build, test, and maintain systems and libraries that power BuzzFeed’s machine learning models
• You will scale and extend feature pipelines and feature storage systems
• You’ll work with software engineers, designers, product managers, and data analysts to understand and shape work at all different stages of its lifecycle
• You are a passionate and empathetic engineer who enjoys contributing to and leading technical projects and working with engineers at all levels
• You adapt quickly to change and love to ship and iterate, building on insights and data
• You will mentor software engineers and data scientists, helping them grew their skills and expertise

You Have

• You have 3-5 or more years experience working on large-scale software infrastructure systems
• You are comfortable working and iterating on evolving workflows and requirements
• You have previously built large-scale APIs and libraries for Python or Go
• You are comfortable working in SQL (BigQuery) on data sets 
• You might have previous experience developing machine learning infrastructure
