In this role you will:

  • Build, maintain and iterate statistical models to inform pricing strategy for Rhino’s products
  • Deploy Adapt traditional actuarial skills to our unique insurance model through estimating unpaid claims liability and rate review
  • Leverage existing and new data sources to identify data features to improve our risk model and portfolio performance
  • Perform monthly portfolio review and provide data supported recommendations to stakeholdersPartner with product managers and engineers to implement pricing adjustments and improve the capture of underwriting and claims data
  • Support the development of new insurance products through analytics in product design, pricing and regulatory requirements
  • Synthesize your work to effectively communicate the core takeaways and recommendations for the executive team and external insurance partners
  • Support the Insurance & Compliance team on regulatory filings and requests

We’re ideally seeking:

  • 4-5 years of total professional actuarial experience in P&C industry, with 2+ years focused on pricing/predictive analytics. Previous experience in surety/credit lines is a plus
  • ACAS or FCAS designation required
  • Experience building predictive models using modern data science techniques
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (or similar scripting languages). Experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau) is a plus
  • Organized and able to efficiently prioritize, multi-task, and adapt in a fast-paced, often changing environment
  • Resource, scrappy self-starter that constantly looks to improve / optimize 
  • Enjoys thinking outside the box and finding creative solutions to actuarial problems
  • Detail-oriented, but capable of seeing the big picture and following the “80/20 rule”
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex and nuanced concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • High-growth start-up experience is preferred
  • Familiarity with DOI requirements across multiple states
