Job Description

Are you passionate about translating numbers into compelling stories to inform future strategies and improve productivity? Then, this might be the role for you. The MSK Office of Development is seeking a Strategic Analyst II to join our growing fundraising decision science team.

You will:

The Strategic Analyst II consults on business problems, translates them into analytics tasks and ultimately into business solutions working along side other team members. Your role will involve defining and scoping analyses, collecting and managing data, performing statistical and mathematical modeling, and sharing results. You will also help train junior analysts and contribute to the larger strategic direction of the department, including the future direction of the decision science effort. Additionally, you will push the boundaries of the team's capabilities in fundraising analytics and will share knowledge increasing the overall capacity of the group to take on new projects and apply new methods. The team's past projects have applied a wide variety of analytical techniques to questions in fundraising, including descriptive and predictive modeling, clustering, statistical analysis, visualization, mapping, forecasting, survival analysis, and simulation.

You are:

  • Experienced at translating business questions into analytical projects, working with real-world data and extracting meaningful insights from it
  • Experienced applying both simple and complex quantitative techniques to arrive efficiently at useful conclusions
  • Hungry to make processes and systems more effective
  • A versatile storyteller, able to communicate complex technical subjects to non-technical audiences
  • Curious, eager to tackle a wide variety of problems, and able to learn independently

You have:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, operations research, mathematics, etc.)
  • 3+ years of experience working with real-world data, relational databases & SQL queries
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. R, python) Proficiency in statistical methodology (Generalized linear models, factor analysis, etc.)

Nice to have:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field
  • Prior work experience in healthcare or nonprofit
  • experience working with Tableau or similar software
