As Tech Lead, you will lead and evolve the architectural vision, roadmap, and competency as you lead and contribute to expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. Your technical decisions and implementations will directly impact our team’s decision making ability, network performance and market competitiveness. You will ensure the proper architectural approaches to address business objectives such as developer efficiency, reliability, maintainability, quality and more. We currently have a polling service based approach to replication. As we look towards the future we will want more stream based processing of data to reduce latency.

Our technical(chapter) leads at Even financial do not directly manage people but have, in a matrixed organizational structure, a group of engineers that specialize in the area of the stack that you will have responsibility. You will determine the vision and strategies of how we evolve our replication pipeline. You will own the technical backlog of work, architectural approach to features, and set the standards and approach to development for your areas of responsibility. The right candidate can also be involved in the technical product management and/or project management of the data workflow.

Day to day:

  • Architect and build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS technologies.
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability and more.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data Science and Business Intelligence teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Mentor engineers, evaluate their competency and help develop their capabilities to help them improve in their careers. We like to collaborate, review each other’s code, and pair from time to time; you'll lead these efforts from the front.

You may be a fit if you have:

  • Extremely high standards of code quality & maintainability. “Programs are meant to be read by humans and only incidentally for computers to execute.”
  • Demonstrated proficiency in architecting systems for replication, transformation, streaming and validation of data
  • 5+ years of data engineering and architecture experience
  • Deep experience with at least one compiled language (Java or Scala preferred) and one scripting language
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases and columnar data stores (eg Redshift)
  • Strong ability to analyze and optimize data query and tech stack performance
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Knowledge of distributed data processing and distributed data stores.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services ones we use or are looking to leverage include: RDS (Postgres), Redshift, DMS, Dynamo, Kinesis, Airflow, EMR (Spark), Lambdas
  • Exposure to Looker and/or Tableau a plus
  • Experience working in or with data science teams training and implementing ML Models

Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits:

Comprehensive medical/dental/vision packages + life and disability insurance

401K retirement plans
