About Your Role:

Dotdash is looking for a full stack Technical Lead with a demonstrated track record of mentorship, innovative thinking, and technical excellence. You will lead one of our most critical publishing platform teams, helping us build out the next generation of data insights and visualization applications that drive editorial content analysis and growth, helping Dotdash's vibrant brands reach over 100 million users a month.
You will lead greenfield projects to fulfill a broad mandate to build the next generation of our editorial insights tools on a hybrid Node and Python backend platform, while transitioning to building our frontend user interfaces on a shared internal library of Vue components. We are looking for someone with a passion for the web and its fast-moving ecosystem, that would enjoy an opportunity to apply and expand their skills with new technologies that best match user and business needs.

About Your Contributions:

• Partner closely with product, research, design, and engineering to ensure data querying and visualization systems meet business needs
• Partner closely with other technical leaders -- including Data Operations and Data Science engineering teams -- to ensure data ingestion, transformation, and storage meet user-facing application requirements
• Help define achievable technical roadmaps and drive their progress to ensure our applications meet performance requirements, are well maintained, and use the best technologies to meet demands, while also making progress against our long term architecture goals
• Drive technical projects from start to completion including system architecture design, code design, development, and integration
• Lead discussions about project architecture and technical feasibility, make decisions, and justify your development approach
• Provide technical mentorship for your team, including guiding their technical design and code review processes
• Champion a sustainable team workload to advance product needs, while addressing tech debt and pushing technical initiatives

About You:

• 4+ years in a frontend or backend engineering role, with 1+ years working as a fullstack engineer
• Ability to translate business and product requirements into technical approaches and concepts - and vice versa
• Strong understanding of system design and architecture
• Experience building APIs and REST-ful services
• Experience building backend applications and services in Python/Django
• Experience with or willingness to build Node backend applications
• Experience with component-based client side frameworks (Vue, React, Angular), as well as related build processes (Webpack, Grunt, Gulp)
• Strong competency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Experience working with teams using modern collaborative Agile+Scrum SDLC, including Git, Jira, planning poker, etc
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field or equivalent
