At Codecademy, data is at the center of everything we do. We are looking for a Web Analytics Engineer to join our cross-functional product development teams. You will partner with stakeholders across the organization to design and implement analytics strategies via the Google Marketing and Analytics Platforms. All with the goal of ensuring the product squads have actionable insights to better serve our learners. This is a great opportunity to build a diverse set of skills ranging from product strategy, product development, quantitative research, and cross-functional collaboration.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Partner with stakeholders across the organization to design and implement analytics strategies via the Google Marketing and Analytics Platforms.
- Contribute to our analytics infrastructure by developing and implementing effective tracking plans in GTM or directly on our platform.
- Ensure upstream product model changes integrate well with our existing data models and reporting tools, and when it doesn’t, build the necessary capabilities to adjust.
- Develop and maintain custom reporting in Google Analytics to help cross-functional stakeholders glean insights for their functional area.
- Train data champions from across the organization on the Google Marketing Platform, including Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (Universal Analytics and GA4.)
- Train end-users to self-serve requests on the Google Analytics platform.
- Apply software engineering best practices to the analytics workflow (ex: version control, testing).
- Identify process improvements, contribute to our documentation, and share best practices with the team and our end-users.
- Collaborate with data science and data engineering to ensure data quality and integrity
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Reputation as a customer obsessed data and analytics expert.
- A “Founder” mentality - relentless, resourceful, proactive, and results-oriented.
- Minimum of 3 years in an analytical role focused on digital product, web, or marketing analytics.
- Strong problem solving skills to determine how best to employ multiple data sets and analytical methods to answer product development questions
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in communicating the results of an analysis to a variety of audiences
- Deep technical expertise in web analytics and Google Analytics / GTM.
- Hands-on experience with JavaScript, HTML and SQL.
- Working knowledge of customer data platforms (we use Segment.)
- Proficiency with agile development software methodologies
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight timelines
- Strong track record of establishing trusted relationships
WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT
- Extensive experience with the Google Analytics platform and programming languages like JavaScript, HTML, Python, etc. Comfortable using Git, Segment (or other CDPs) and data warehouses like Snowflake and Google BigQuery.
- Previous GA consulting experience, or hands-on experience building GA from scratch.
- Experience working in Edtech or equivalent industries
