Art Director
Hinge is the fastest growing dating app, and we’re looking for an Art Director with a big heart and a small ego, who lives and breathes creativity, to join Hinge’s brand team. You should have a passion for creating inspiring, clear, beautiful, and contemporary work that pushes Hinge to new heights. We’re looking for someone who others describe as a team player and visionary. You’ll refine Hinge’s visual ID, including illustrations, photography, and videos to feature on SnapChat, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Hulu, and other digital platforms. This role will report to the CMO and will work with the brand and media teams to create campaigns that drive growth. Responsibilities
- Elevate and push Hinge’s visual language forward through the creation of original and inspiring content that helps tell our story around the world.
- Lead design across all communication touchpoints including social, digital, app, press, events, emails, swag, decks, and more.
- Manage and conduct photo and video shoots for various ads and campaigns.
- Infuse the team with strong creative ideas and execution and get the people around you to be additive to the creative process and solicit team-wide feedback to yield world-class creative.
- Create and own design systems that allow the marketing team to scale and ship creative quickly, reliably and without compromising the brand’s look and feel.
- Review all creative assets before publishing them, ensuring the final work is polished and up to Design and Brand guidelines.
- Review all creative assets after publishing them, ensuring that all designs are effective.
- Create, maintain, and make accessible to the marketing team a clear, up-to-date and well-designed library of marketing assets that can be repurposed at any time. The library will include source files for ads, edited photos, videos, voice-overs, illustrations, etc.
- Hire and manage best-in-class external design freelancers and agencies. We pride ourselves on being each partner’s favorite client.
About You
- You’re creative, curious, and hungry; ready to roll your sleeves up to get work done in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Great at managing people, expectations, and deadlines.
- You’re a tastemaker with a great eye for what’s to come. Advanced conceptual and “out of the box” thinking.
- You are empathetic with consumers and develop creative design across earned, owned, social and paid.
- You have a strong understanding of brand development and integrated marketing campaigns.
- You have impeccable taste in information design and typography, well-versed in digital engagement, and motivated by constantly improving the results of their work.
- You have a distaste for lorem ipsum - caring about nailing the perfect copy needs to be a priority.
- You experience designing iteratively based on data from experiments. A high degree of comfort with agile design practices to ship optimal versions of your creative over time.
- You are passionate about collaborating and a true team player. Ability to build relationships at all levels internally and externally.
- You are objective about your work and knowing that sometimes (most times) just because something looks good, it doesn’t mean it works. You’ll also need to be comfortable opening yourself up to feedback from your colleagues. Have a great sense of humor.
- You communicate well with team members and articulate the rationale for design decisions.
- You effectively interface with leadership, polished executive presence, and inspiring, inclusive leadership style.
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ Years of work experience in a visual design role or similar with a proven track record of building world-class brands.
- An online portfolio that demonstrates:
- Your taste and thought process, not just final design work.
- Passion for great design, stylistic breadth and attention to detail.
- Experience across digital, print, and motion.
- Strong sensibilities in typography, graphic design, content layouts, photography, and videography.
- Master of Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.
- BA/BS in a related field (e.g. Visual Communication)
