BuzzFeed is seeking a talented, hands-on Associate Art Director to join our in-house design team. This position will require the candidate to develop outstanding illustrations, animations, designs, and site integrations. The ideal candidate will have a diverse portfolio of original creative content. This position calls for the ability to collaborate with other creatives on projects from conception to execution in a fast paced, fun environment.

You Will:

• Create ideas for visual content based on your knowledge of design, illustration and photography.

• Help manage the workflow of projects handled by the art team.

• Create work based on current design trends as well as design styles past and present.

• Provide constructive feedback, support and direction to the designers, illustrators and photographers on the art team.

• Collaborate with writers, editors, and producers to create art for projects across a wide range of mediums and platforms.

• Report to the Creative Director of the Art Desk.

You Have:

• In-Depth Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects.

• Degree or course of study in art and design.

• Studio photography experience a plus.

• Strong sense of typography.

• Ability to work Independently on multiple projects under a tight deadline.

• Great communication skills and a talent for collaboration.

• Strong organization skills.

• An interest in current events, pop culture, and social media.

• An active presence on social media.

• 5+ years design experience preferred.
