The Role:

The Associate Brand Design will work closely with our Senior Brand Designer to meet the day-to-day branded creative needs or our Marketing team, as well as other teams on occasion. You will create original graphics and assets following the direction of a creative brief, and will develop and manage design templates for internal and external use -- including digital, print, and motion graphics design. You’ll serve as a branding advocate internally, providing branding guidance, branding support, and actively updating un-branded or out-of brand materials. You will be responsible for providing design insight and services, including maintenance of several tools (such as Canva and Brandcast) that help further design reach within our company.

Why You’ll Love This Role:

This is an opportunity to make a tangible business impact at a rapidly growing company that is helping shape the future of education. Reporting to our Director of Corporate Marketing, you’ll be helping to define the next phase of Newsela’s brand in the market, and will get to help build the visual manifestation of that strategy. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your design skills through continuously updating our library of creative assets to meet our team’s needs, in addition to ideating and iterating on new templates for diverse business needs. Your work will directly contribute to growing Newsela’s impact on the K-12 market, and helping make reading more accessible and engaging for all readers.

Why We’ll Love You:

You have 2-3 years of experience in brand design, either in house or within an agency, and have a strong portfolio that exemplifies the breadth of your experience (ideally including projects relating to flat or vector style graphic design). You have a strong skill set in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Google Slides, and Google Documents, and a mastery of the basics of design (color theory, layout, editing, etc.). You ideally also have experience in Sketch, Figma, After Effects, Photoshop, Invision/Zeplin, and Canva. While not required, an art degree or agency experience is preferred.

About Newsela:

One of the fastest growing tech companies in K-12 education, Newsela was founded on the principle that while every child may have unique learning preferences, they all deserve a rich learning experience that ignites a love of learning. We built our platform based on learning science research to deliver the most engaging, authentic content to modernize how teaching happens in the classroom. Along with interactive assessments and tools, we provide teachers with digital content at five reading levels -- from +100 of the best sources -- that is relevant to the diverse backgrounds and interests of their students. Since we started in 2013, we’ve established a presence in 90% of U.S. K-12 schools and over 2.5M teachers and 37M students have registered with Newsela.
