Description:

An Associate Creative Director at LearnVest/Northwestern Mutual has a passion for simplicity and product design that truly makes a difference in people's lives. An ACD has solidified their position in design leadership and plays a critical role in our digital transformation, leading a major product suite from a strategic and design quality perspective.

An ACD not only pushes the quality of work across the discipline but also partners with other discipline leads, product and engineering to determine the vision and strategically bring the work to life.

An Associate Creative Director has a team of Designers and Leads working within their product suite and will be responsible for enabling them to do their best work and bringing them all together in a way that pushes the vision forward.

They are a major driver of the vision of our products and brand and plays a critical role in defining and executing that vision- always thinking 2-3 years out. They should be incredibly passionate about the work we are doing and always striving to push our vision forward.

Responsibilities:

  • Play a critical role in the strategic vision of our product portfolio and expression of our brand
  • Oversee a major product suite from a strategic and design quality standpoint and enable teams within to do their best work and bring them together in a way that pushes the vision forward
  • True collaboration with all disciplines of design, product and engineering to bring the work to life
  • Manage 3-6 designers and leads and be able to tailor advice and feedback to each person both in terms of the work but also career development goals
  • Help drive the creation of an enterprise level team and take on departmental responsibilities
  • Be an advocate for design and create strategic deliverables which demonstrate the value of your work

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of digital product experience (digital agency experience is a plus), 2 in a leadership role
  • Experience leading major digital initiatives and overseeing a small to mid-size team of designers.
  • Ability to provide clear, creative feedback and inspire great work out of the team
  • Ability to deliver strategic presentations to executive stakeholders to help bring the work to life
  • A passion for user centered, data driven design and being at the forefront of technology
  • Significant knowledge of the fundamentals: graphic design, user experience design, user-centered design, and how products are put together
  • Self-starter who is user-focused, detail and solutions oriented
  • Link to work or an online portfolio with a heavy focus on digital product design is a must
