Job Description

Hello. We’re looking for a passionate and seasoned Associate Design Director with a keen creative eye and reliable management experience. We’re looking for someone who is excited about always-on, all-round access to a healthier mind and body, to join our collective at Equinox Media. We provide the platform and means to pursue a healthier lifestyle through Equinox+ (our live and on-demand app experience) and power to pursue your goals with the SoulCycle At-Home Bike.

Much like our offering, we need a design brain that is multi-disciplined, has a pulse on culture, a collaborative spirit and a disruptive and evocative point of view. This role is for someone who is happy getting their hands dirty in order to set the standard.

You will be responsible for leading a small, nimble team of Designers across a range of outputs and report to the Senior Creative Director as part of the Equinox Media Marketing team. 

What you'll do:

• Lead, mentor, manage and inspire junior through senior visual designers. 
• Be involved in all aspects of visual design from briefing and ideation to development.
• Conceptualize and lead design projects across brand and integrated marketing campaigns, mobile products, paid and owned channels – as well as product design development. 
• You will craft and build brand and product design systems and collaborate with others to iterate towards that vision through product launches.
• Establish a command of visual composition, typographic hierarchy, and scalable brand, product and content solutions. Work will also extend and include UI solutions for our mobile and device products.
• Play a crucial role in co-creating our brand book and design guidelines (as well as design systems) that set the precedent for brand direction and scale across marketing, product and content platforms.
• Work closely with our in-house Creative Operations lead to ensure projects are delivered on or ahead of time. 
• Work closely with in-house strategists, art directors & copywriters to deliver tip-top creative at the intersection of business and creativity.
• Work with cross-functional teams. You'll partner closely with product and design to lead elegant but practical solutions to design challenges.
• Be autonomous. You'll take full ownership of your work and responsibility for every pixel, every step of the way.
• Produce multiple concepts, knowing when to apply attention to detail, and when to make quick decisions to stay on track.
• Give and solicit feedback from other teams, designers, and leadership in order to continually raise the bar for quality.
• Ability to think long and short-term to meet the constraints of a continuously growing company.
• Establish rock-solid relationships with external brand partners to ensure an effortless dialogue and seamless working relationship.

Who you are:

• You have 7-10 years of proven design experience, with a multidisciplinary skill set. 
• You will have designed across a wide range of touch points for consumer-focused tech companies, design studios and/or advertising agencies. You will be required to evidence design management experience.
• A passion for editorial design and communication as well as an interest and past experience working with music, fashion and fitness brands.
• You will need to think strategically and conceptually with an extraordinary level of craft. 
• You're an excellent communicator and can clearly articulate your creative and design decisions. 
• You are an empathetic and inspiring design manager who is able to motivate and energize your team, while working remotely – without ego. 
• You will have proven experience working closely with cross-functional project teams and external brand partners.
• Have a solutions-oriented mindset that proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and growth within the team.
• You have experience in managing high visibility and high volume brands and products. 
• An exemplary creative portfolio featuring examples of integrated creative brand campaigns and digital design work across product and marketing.
• A hands-on pro in Figma, After Effects, Adobe Creative Suite, Google suite, as well as other design and presentation tools.

Where:

• While we continue to work remotely at least through to September, the expectation is that you will join us in our NYC office, once it is safe to do.
