We’re seeking a Brand Design Director to lead and grow the visual brand identity across various platforms—including paid media, print, e-commerce and larger multi-platform campaigns. This individual will lead the ideation and execution of creative strategy and assets that continue to position Away as a leader in creativity while also delivering on business goals.

This position will work from our headquarters in NoHo, NYC.

REQUIREMENTS

What you’ll do:

  • Ideate, manage and execute on creative campaigns and strategic deliverables that align with Away’s brand aesthetic while continuing to evolve the brand’s visual identity
  • Partner with the VP of Creative Strategy to bring our brand to life across every aspect of the business—from setting the art direction across our channels to evolving our brand guidelines and typography
  • Responsible for conceptualizing creative strategies and campaigns that position Away as a leader in innovative campaigns, products and design
  • Work cross-functionally with full Creative team—including Copy, UX and Production—to develop creative direction for partnerships, product launches and more––while ensuring cohesive execution across all assets and platforms
  • Align the brand design and creative execution with company-wide business initiatives by actively working with key stakeholders throughout Away
  • Proactively communicate with other teams and foster cross-functional collaboration that encourages an open dialogue and helps us align on thoughtfully considered decisions
  • Grow, lead and inspire a design team and manage their daily output while promoting continual creative improvement and actively contributing to a culture of creative excellence

Who you are:

  • 7-10 years of experience at a creative/branding agency or design-led consumer brand
  • A strong, dynamic portfolio that showcases a finely tuned and nuanced aesthetic—with strengths in minimalist design, typography, design systems, visual storytelling & art direction
  • The energy and drive to push boundaries and deliver the best design in the industry—we’re not interested in the status quo.
  • Passionate about the future of design and technology and excited at the opportunity to intersect the two in exciting and modern ways.
  • Extensive experience conceptualizing, designing and producing brand campaigns, as well as leading design teams
  • Considerable on-set art direction experience with the ability to manage unforeseen changes and feedback
  • Knowledge and appreciation of photography and video—including color correction, retouching and editing
  • Nuanced understanding of Away’s brand, aesthetic, voice, and mission
  • Leadership level communication with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions
  • Strong strategic decision making skills and can nimbly weigh business goals alongside creative goals
  • Patient, flexible and able to multitask under tight timelines
  • Expert in Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop
