ABOUT THE TEAM AND ROLE
The design team at theSkimm consists of ambitious, collaborative, and thoughtful designers, who work closely on all things related to theSkimm brand. They support pre and post sale partnerships, brand marketing, growth marketing, social, and product teams. We feel passionate and excited about designing products and experiences that millions of people touch on a daily basis.
This person is a key member of the team, working directly with internal stakeholders and the creative team on campaigns. The ideal candidate has a sophisticated aesthetic, experience in illustration, and is comfortable working at a fast pace under short lead deadlines.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Concepting and designing creative for brand and editorial campaigns cross-functionally across the organization
  • Manage ongoing editorial projects from initial concept to execution
  • Working closely with social media to create templates and custom posts
  • Ensure theSkimm's brand styles and voice is represented in all projects
  • Work with the entire design team to evolve the brand design system, understanding the value of design patterns and helping to build and maintain a cohesive visual language


WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 2+ years of digital design experience
  • 2+ years of illustration experience
  • BFA degree is preferred
  • Proficient in Figma and Adobe Suite
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects
  • A sound design aesthetic with a solid understanding of typography and composition, and grids
  • The ability to refine other people's ideas and come up with new ones to create a highly designed visual experience
  • The ability to work collaboratively with a team, independently and under close direction
  • Self-learning, able to learn new tools quickly and work in a fast-evolving environment

This is a full-time role with flexibility for remote work. While our employees are continuing to work remotely throughout the remainder of 2021, we are excited to return to HQ in New York, NY next year. Beginning in January 2022, the office will be open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and NY metro area employees will come together in person a minimum of 3 days per month. All other days are up to the discretion of the employee and they may go in as often as they'd like.
We will require vaccinations for anyone coming to our office. We are following CDC recommendations for any additional boosters, and will always follow CDC and NY state guidance on wearing masks in the office.
