Data Visualization Designer
Teachable is looking for a Data Visualization Designer to join the Data Team. We're a small, tight-knit team of smart people who get a lot done with minimal overhead. We collaborate on roadmap, design, and architecture, and are on a mission to revolutionize education.
As Data Viz Designer, you will support our customer-facing Advanced Reporting product, which is currently in development. The role involves several design components:
Product-based research & analysis and customer interviews: what reporting features do our customers need to help them succeed?
Data modeling: what fields, and aggregations, need to be built to provide data that our customers need?
Data visualization design: how should data be presented to customers to best communicate actionable insights? How can the UI be improved; what new tools do we need?
We expect to develop our advanced reporting using a micro-frontend framework that will minimize the need for coding, but some javascript and an understanding of d3.js or other visualization libraries would be beneficial. In this role you will work closely with our Data Visualization Engineer as well as with stakeholders in the Product organization (Product Managers, Product Designers) to make sure that advanced reporting supports key Teachable products and maintains our brand’s design elements.
Who You Are
- You’re experienced with UI design.
- You’re passionate about effectively communicating insights through data visualizations, but you recognize that sometimes, the user just needs a csv.
- You’ve gone beyond the basics in data viz design-- either you’ve built some cool interfaces in d3.js or another visualization library, or you’ve done some stellar stuff in a BI platform.
- You have a good sense of how to visualize data effectively, and you can demonstrate that ability.
- You have some experience with javascript and css; professional experience and a strong comfort level is a big plus.
- If you have experience with a modern frontend framework, that’s a plus.
- You’re interested in joining a collaborative team that cares deeply about its product and each other
