About the role

As Redesign Health’s first Design Lead you’ll be working alongside the studio’s Head of Design, Adam Brodowski. Together, you will be working closely with all ventures across the entire Redesign Health studio providing experience design expertise as ideas for new ventures are concepted, researched, tested, and then scaled into full independent companies. 

Your job will be to advocate for the user and bring design processes into the workflow of the studio. Workloads span from early stage ideation to detailed visual design work ready for launch. If you love working on early stage ideas and aren’t precious about staying on after version 1 is released you might be great fit for the job.

 

What you’re like:

  • You thrive in face paced environments where workloads are continually changing and require you to make sense of needs and prioritize the workload accordingly.
  • You’re a self-starter who takes charge findings answers to questions, thriving on ambiguity and tackling new design challenges.
  • You value collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Working alongside others to tackle big design challenges by setting up and facilitating workshops/meetings.
  • You excel at visualizing complex product systems so teammates can understand the scope of design problems and solutions.
  • You enjoy sharing and teaching the design process by bringing others along on as ideas are validated.
  • You believe that listening to users is the best way to making good products, services, and companies. You lean on user research, prototyping, and testing to identify pain points, needs, and iterate towards a solution.
  • You’ve designed within complex ecosystems with both online and offline touch points. Comfortably working from low-fi prototypes through to executing high fidelity visual and brand design work.

What you’ll be doing:

  • You’ll work with the Head of Design, engineers, venture operators, venture C-suite execs, medical teams, subject matter experts, and external partners/advisors to validate early venture concepts.
  • Advocating for the user and conducting research to understand a user’s pain points and needs.
  • Using lean prototyping and testing techniques to quickly iterate and validate new product, service, and business ideas.
  • Understanding business needs and connect them with design decisions that can be articulated in individual or group settings.
  • Owning the entire product and brand experience for early stage venture from digital to packaging to physical space design.
  • Interviewing and helping hire design staff for incubated ventures and Redesign Health as the team grows.

What you should have:

  • 5+ years UX design experience at a startup or a product focused agency. 
  • Experience planning and conducting user research sessions.
  • Experience shipping finished products. 
  • Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Sketch, Invision, Framer, etc.
  • Positive, empathetic, and collaborative approach to design work.

Bonus points for:

  • Prior experience working in the venture world.
  • Prior experience or passion for medical and health fields.
