Design Team Manager
Harry’s is a men’s grooming brand that was built out of respect for quality craftsmanship, simple design, modern convenience and for guys who know they shouldn’t have to overpay for a great shave. From grinding steel into fine razors blades at our factory in Germany to selling our products directly to customers on our website and select retailers, we own the entire process.

About the Role
We are looking for a top-notch candidate to manage the Design Team and our process within Harry’s Inc. This is no small task. Great design is at the core of Harry’s DNA and running a smooth process is essential to creating amazing products. In this role, you will be the design team’s primary source of contact for our cross-functional partners throughout the entire project lifecycle - from kick-off to launch. The Design Team Manager provides support to the team and a point of call to funnel information between cross functional partners and the designers. Without this integral role, much of the management of a project falls on a designers’ shoulders, allowing less time for design.
Note this is not a designer role, but a passion for design is a must.
What you will accomplish:
- Have a deep understanding of the different divisions within the Design Team and know the intricacies of each: Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Print Production and Store Design.
- Create great cross-functional collaborative relationships. The Design Team acts as a service agency throughout the company - understanding their needs and ways of working is critical.
- Help keep the team on track using exceptional communication skills. Deliver briefs to the appropriate team members and have answers to critical questions that may come up.
- Work well in deadline oriented environments - must be resilient and flexible.
- Master Asana and have the ability to quickly learn and source other internal organizational tools.
- Develop and lead a weekly progress meeting: like a boss - no yawns.
- Review daily resource and workload schedules and booking freelancers when it gets we crazy busy.
- Anticipate - you will see both what's happening today and what's ahead. You will proactively sound the alarm on issues that may derail our process/timeline.
- Be the primary source of contact for outside vendors used by the design team - illustrators, model makers, construction, etc.
- Hunt for answers without creating disruption or distraction. No one is expected to have every answer, rather we need someone who can seek out tactfully seek out information.
- Navigate our comlex process with ease and dedicate yourself to always making it better.
- Celebrate our wins and help to adapt when we have set backs.
- Bring the Design Team closer together by organizing outings - retreats and inspirational trips/talks. Organize happy hours, holiday and bday celebrations.
This should describe you:
- 4-6 years experience - Process Manager /Producer within design studio or design-driven company
- Communication guru
- Smart and thoughtful, with a sense of humor
