At LearnVest and Northwestern Mutual, we help people make the most of their lives through financial planning.

We are building a full service in-house agency and seeking top talent with agency experience in New York City. 

As a Visual Designer, you will work on traditional, digital and social campaigns, website design, emails, CRM, some digital product design and maybe the occasional deck (the Universe is imperfect).

You are a skilled designer who can work independently and respond to feedback thoughtfully. You can work with templates while also coming up with new and exciting creative solutions. You are reliable and easy going and have a strong command of Sketch, Invision, Adobe CS and any other necessary design software.

Here’s what we’re looking for in a Visual Designer: 

• Great design chops with a sense of ownership over your projects
• The ability to manage the quality of design deliverables, making sure they meet the highest standards
• Is happy concepting and collaborating with other creative teams, including Copywriters, Experience Designers, Product Managers, and Tech Leads on a wide range of projects—from integrated, digital, and social campaigns to videos, websites, emails, branding, and digital products and tools
• Conceptual in the way you develop ideas and strategic in the way you bring them to life
• The discipline to work closely with producers to make sure designs are delivered on time

Our ideal candidate:

• Has 3-5 years of agency experience
• Has the design skills to bring a concept to life visually, making sure it shines
• Has a collaborative work ethic and easy going nature
• Is able to take direction, go beyond what’s asked, and constantly challenge oneself
• Has a naturally curious mind
• Excels at juggling multiple projects and tasks at a time
• Has a kick-ass current and review-ready portfolio site

Some cool things to know about working with us:

Great location: We’re in the heart of the village, nudged right in between the West and the East, bookended by Union Square and Washington Square. So no gnarly mid-town. Just brick buildings, trees, movie stars, interesting dogs, healthy food and pretty much every subway line in the city.

Normal hours: We’re not beholden to the vagaries of clients (we are the clients), so you’re not working through Memorial Day, Labor Day, Turkey Day, MLK Day, Saturday and every other day that most people get to take off and enjoy. And for the most part, we’re done by 6.

Highest quality work: We set the bar high since we’re alumni of some of the best agencies in NYC. We only create work that we are proud of. Not all of the work will go in your book, but plenty of it will. The goal is to create award-winning work that rivals any agency.
