About The Role

Foursquare is seeking a passionate, curious, and thoughtful Designer to join the Creative + Marketing team. In this role, you will support our consumer apps and corporate brand by creating and modifying materials for email, website and offline campaigns for Foursquare CityGuide and Swarm. You will design and produce graphic assets and develop compelling visual materials that communicate Foursquare’s mission, vision, and strategy to our diverse and passionate user base. You’ll provide creative and effective ideas for marketing campaigns. You’ll take your ideas from concept through to completion. You’ll play an important role by not only designing and delivering those campaigns, but also being a thought partner. The designer will work closely with Product and Marketing on developing new campaigns.

You’ll be confident using the Adobe Creative Suite, possess a fundamental understanding of coding and enjoy working on a variety of marketing initiatives. This role requires great attention to detail and organization. You must have strong time management and prioritization skills to hit tight deadlines. You must be a strong communicator and be able to build strong working relationships.

As a Marketing Designer at Foursquare, you’ll help communicate our products through thoughtful visual storytelling and compelling design. You understand that the key to great design is great communication, and you obsess over understanding our users so that your work is relevant and insightful to our audience. This job requires extensive collaboration with our marketing and product teams to deliver visual solutions that will directly impact the growth of our products.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Marketing and Product to define the best approach to a project and deliver visually-appealing content for our email campaigns, social acquisition ad creative, app store, websites and social media profiles
  • Routinely handles marketing design initiatives from inception to final marketing asset
  • Create appropriate documentation for the task at hand, ranging from low-fidelity sketches to high-fidelity mockups all the way through to final email, website, or other marketing collateral
  • Help establish and reinforce consistent design patterns
  • Create and maintain a visual assets database of images, logos, infographics available for internal and external use
  • Deep knowledge and experience in responsive email coding
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot and repair HTML email
  • Up-to-date on the latest branding/marketing trends and able to produce unique graphics for our email and web products
  • Give and solicit feedback from your fellow team members in order to constantly raise the bar
  • Passion and ideas about where the Foursquare marketing campaigns can go
  • Ability to manage and deliver against several initiatives simultaneously
  • Must be able to independently develop multiple unique creative concepts against an assignment
  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven and able to work both independently and collaboratively on multiple projects at a time
  • Creativity, flexibility and attention to detail a must
  • Team player that enjoys collaboration

Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of marketing design experience
  • Exceptional portfolio showcasing original and innovative design solutions that span both digital and print, ideally working with a performance-driven marketing team of a consumer software company
  • Ability to hold a strong design vision while remaining collaborative and open to new ideas
  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of current web technologies
  • Strong visual design skills and ability to create new visual design systems and patterns
  • Able to successfully create and manage all aspects of a project (and respective processes)
  • Self-motivated, excellent communicator, able to organize, prioritize and produce results independently
  • Ability to balance short-term and long-term strategic initiatives, and work within tight deadlines
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, web design, content management and publishing tools (HTML, CSS)
  • Experience designing for responsive web (mobile-first approach)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design or related experience

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong illustration and animation skills
  • Knowledge in front-end development (eg: HTML, CSS)
  • Experience with prototyping (eg: Invision, Principle, AfterEffects)
  • Experience in using project management tools like Asana/Slack
