What this role is about:
RapidSOS is looking for a Director of UX/UI to join our growing team. Reporting to our VP of Product, the Director will define and oversee the execution of RapidSOS’s overall UI/UX vision. RapidSOS is driven by our mission, so you will be expected to bring your creativity, experience, and sense of urgency to drive the company’s UX strategy, key initiatives, and team forward. You will collaborate with Product and Engineering Leadership, Engineers, Product Managers, and Marketing Leaders to plan, drive, and execute high-quality results to support our mission.
What you’ll do:
Define and oversee the execution of RapidSOS’s overall UI/UX vision by establishing design/UX principles and encouraging teams to adhere to them
Collaborate with Product Managers to lead and execute activities for the UX discovery process; inclusive of experience mapping, story mapping, user tests, prototype development, etc.
Leverage expertise in various methodologies to determine which collaborative techniques are necessary in a particular discovery cycle
Design and conduct user research, using both quantitative and qualitative methods, and translate metrics/usage data into solid hypotheses around potential design solutions
Create high-quality design deliverables, including high and low-fidelity sketches and layouts, and collaborate with the Engineering team to drive towards an optimal solution, considering constraints
Manage and grow a team of designers
Facilitate team discussions and workshops in order to inspire team creativity and encourage multiple ideas around a particular problem or feature
Advocate for a design-centered approach to a variety of company activities, with the goal of transforming the organization into a design-focused one. Facilitate team discussions and workshops in order to inspire team creativity and encourage multiple ideas around a particular problem or feature
Partner with Brand Marketing team to ensure a seamless experience between the brand and the product
What we're looking for in our ideal candidate:
6+ years of UI/UX experience
Experience managing a team
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate in a strong and concise manner
A portfolio of work with a proven track record of success in creating delightful products
Strong interaction and visual (UI) design skills
Fluent in qualitative user research tools and techniques
Familiarity with modern, Agile UX group facilitation models
Highly conversational in industry and company topics
Conversant in front-end coding concepts and able to design to constraints
Fluency in Sketch and Invisionapp
Experience with HTML, CSS & JavaScript preferred
