Meeting your future team:

At Collibra we make data meaningful for our Data Citizens. You understand why and how a human-centered design approach transforms a business. As Head of User Research, you will reveal customers’ and end user’s unmet needs and unvoiced desires by analyzing their behavior and motivation. You will create research methodologies, and share the results with the Product Team, Engineers, and Collibra leadership to influence the user-centric, empathetic trajectory of our products. You will drive the Customer Council program to benefit our customers and create new insights for Collibra. 

The Head of User Research will also make recommendations on how we can adjust current processes for a more connected Customer Experience.

You’ll report to the VP Design, and you will have 1-2 direct reports. The product design team has been through rapid growth, and will continue to grow. We will continue the path to drive cohesion, product vision, execution excellence, and excellent cross-functional relationships to further advancing design’s strategic value within the organization.

The Director of User Research at Collibra is responsible for:

  • Seting vision and strategy for User Research within Collibra.
  • Working with Collibra stakeholders to build the right tools on how to collect and analyzing data to improve the user experience; tracking and reporting on usability metrics.
  • Applying systems thinking and complexity theory to forge the future of our offerings within the context of user experience.
  • Building and deploying research methodologies that measure qualitative and quantitative aspects of human behavior.
  • Working with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers to prioritize research opportunities, and instill a high level of research literacy within the design team.
  • Conducting research. Forming close relationships with our customers to uncover their needs. Being the conduit and advocate to the Collibra Product Team on customer and end user wants, needs, and desires. Developing the Customer Council program and running monthly sessions.
  • Publishing research findings to all Collibra divisions through written reports, and in-person compelling presentations. Create a virtuous cycle to feed the research insights to the design team to continuously improve the product experience,

You Have:

  • Master’s in Human- Computer Interaction, Psychology, Cognitive Science or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in a management/leadership role creating research strategy, and conducting research.
  • Extensive experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Design research skills, knowledge of user-centered design methodologies.
  • Storytelling skills to be able to communicate findings to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience collaborating with design and product teams on technical implementation

Measuring Success:

  • Within your first month, you will study Collibra’s business strategy, and understand how the Product Design strategy connects to the larger picture. You will have first thoughts on the User Research process and strategy. 
  • Within your third month, you will have made connections to relevant stakeholders, and you will have forged close connections with your direct employees and the design team. The Customer Council program will be up and running. Research methodologies are established; the team is bought in.
  • Within your sixth month, you will have shown success by conducting user research for the biggest bet projects, and the insights will have been applied to the product design. You will have established a metrics-driven approach so we can measure, track and report on the product- and user experience. Customers seek to work with you to influence the product direction.
