Graphic Designer (4 month contract with possibility to hire)

As a Designer at Teachable, you will be responsible for collaborating with Design, Marketing, and Product to support an extraordinary product that is used by tens of thousands of creators and millions of students.
You’ll bring your passion for design and love for building a visual brand to the table every day to help us dig into our recent rebrand and create compelling design systems across multiple mediums.
This position is backfill for a current role but has the potential to transition to full time after the four month contract period if both parties are in agreement.
You:
- Have 3+ years of experience in digital design, typography, and visual layout design
- Have experience producing final design assets for social, email, and advertising
- Have experience in a startup or similarly fast-paced environment
- Have the ability to push designs forward and expand upon existing design while maintaining brand integrity
- Love design processes—the possibilities, ideas, conversation, mediums, and tools
- Are guided by an insatiable curiosity and desire to create great experiences
- Aim to create memorable visual elements
- Are able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly
- Are a collaborative team player who’s also capable of working independently
- Have a desire to grow and a positive attitude
- Enjoy brainstorming and iterating
- Are flexible and willing to work across departments and disciplines to achieve the best results
- Are immersed in design trends and best practices and can communicate both of those to your peers and the larger team
Responsibilities:
- Become fully immersed in the Teachable brand and mission
- Execute designs that reflect our brand with the guidance of with our Creative Director (hiring also in process)
- Design for a wide variety of media, including: virtual campaigns, websites, emails, social media, events, office branding, printed materials, and presentations
- Partner with our our current Designer as well as our Brand and Content team to create experiences that elevate the brand and drive action
- Collaborate with Social Strategist to formulate the look and feel of all of our social channels. Willingness to be daring and innovative in rethinking how we represent the brand on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, YouTube) is a must
- Produce unique, strategically-led marketing assets (including print assets: gift and event)
- Contribute to all phases of creative production – from concept to execution.
- Brainstorm and strategize with the team on new and innovative designs for public-facing materials.
- Promote continual creative improvements through self-education and process refinement
- Participate in regular design crits and help create an in-house design practice
Skills & Tools:
- Proficiency with Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Sketch are required; experience with Keynote, After Effects, and Video Editing are preferred
- Experience designing for social media (Instagram, Facebook) and other paid media platforms
- Strong typography skills and clean design aesthetic with an emphasis on visual hierarchy, good structure, and clear communication
- Ability to translate brand standards into compelling, consistent design systems that are unique to Teachable
- Ability to iterate on the fly and take feedback with an open mind
- Ability to advocate for your designs and clearly communicate your thought process, vision, reasoning, and desired outcomes
