Thank you for your interest in joining the Yieldstreet team! Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have slowed our hiring and are being thoughtful about which roles we bring on that are critical to our business at this time. We are carefully reviewing all applications on a regular basis and will be in touch should we deem your application a good fit for this position. We appreciate your patience as we navigate these uncertain times.

Our mission is to empower people by helping them realize their next level, and we remain committed to supporting our employees, investors, and community during this global crisis. Here's how we're responding to the outbreak.

About the Role

Yieldstreet is looking for a Head of Design to take our brand and product experience to the next level. We're building the largest global digital wealth management platform to change the way wealth is created. Our investor community builds a diversified portfolio of investments outside of the stock market to generate passive income. Ambitious goals require ambitious leadership. We need someone that can effectively scale the design team while ensuring the brand is represented across every touchpoint and the design system is harmonious and scalable.

What you'll do - Brand and Product Design Strategy:

  • Drive our Yieldstreet design standards and design system forward, setting design as a core competency and differentiator.
  • Collaborate across functions to help set roadmaps that will achieve business goals through design.
  • Embody user focus and drive Yieldstreet product and brand, through every touchpoint.
  • Own art direction rooted in visual design but also experienced in motion and interactive design.
  • Develop brand concepts working closely with the marketing team (copywriters, marketers, marketing directors, etc.).
  • Lead user research and other experiments to inform design decisions.
  • Advocate for and teach product design skills across the organization.
  • Find ways to involve non-designers in the product design process through design sprints and other creative means.
  • Give back to the community via open source, blog posts, and sharing design team work.

What you'll do - Team Management:

  • Manage and build rapport with each member of the design team. Work hard to help them level up their skills. (Today, our design team is comprised of 3 product designers and 3 visual designers.)
  • Design and implement a process to effectively recruit and onboard new designers, ensuring that scaling the team is as efficient and deliberate as possible.
  • Foster a team culture of continuous growth and improvement -- providing training to designers and encouraging cross-team collaboration and skill-sharing.
  • Provide constructive feedback on all design deliverables that ensures cohesion with the brand and design system.

What you'll need:

  • You are a skilled UX and UI designer who can jump in if-needed. You've done it for years and have lots of stories and advice to share based on prior experience.
  • You have both hands-on and leadership experience across all touchpoints of design; from branding and marketing design, to product design and research.
  • You have conducted user research and can combine qualitative and quantitative research to help drive decision making within the broader organization.
  • You can balance product, business, and design needs with a customer-focused mantra. You are able to relate to customers and deliver a superior user experience in a simple and clear manner while supporting business goals.
  • You're a champion for doing things efficiently. The work you do will have a disproportionate impact on the business. We believe in systems and processes that let us scale our impact to be larger than ourselves.
  • You understand code well enough to know if design solutions are attainable and you can communicate with engineers to ensure designs are properly implemented.

An Insider's view of Yieldstreet

What are some social events your company does?

My favorite part of Yieldstreet is our camaraderie. It’s refreshing to be part of a team that likes spending time together vs bolting for the door as soon as the clock strikes 5. We do group workouts, host guest speakers, do team outings, and go for dinners at popular spots like Vandal, Lavo and Nobu.

Meg

Chief of Staff

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

We collaborate across functional differences (your normal departmental divisions) and geographic distances. We not only share documentation about features and strategy, but also about the best spots to grab a bite, a drink, or to catch a show! Yieldstreet folks look out for each other, so our teams in Brazil, Argentina, Malta have followed suit.

Charlie

Senior Product Manager

How has your career grown since starting at the company?

My career has grown tremendously in the year and a half at Yieldstreet. I started as the only Product Manager on the team, and as we've scaled, I have had the opportunity to grow the product team to six people. I was recently promoted to Director and now have a wide-ranging set of responsibilities and the capability to impact company strategy.

Glenna

Senior Director, Product Management

How do you make yourself accessible to the rest of the team?

I sit amongst the team, grab lunch with the team, go to happy hours with the team and that is why I feel like I'm always in the know with the challenges and successes of the team. Being accessible doesn't have to just be scheduled and I expect that my team will / can come to me at any time or any place to address whatever needs to be addressed.

Matt

Head of Credit Underwriting
