We produce VR-based training simulations designed by each industry that teaches novices in the same manner that experts master their crafts - through trial and error. Data-driven simulations work like virtual coaches, adapting to every person’s pace and skills while responding to their mistakes. Our immersive Experience Training method helps trainees build confidence in their knowledge, skills and abilities, thus helping acquire the skills required to secure top paying jobs.


As a Lead Animator, you will help bring the Transfr style to our audience, and your charge is to maintain the artistic vision as set forth. This will include creating benchmark assets, workflows, and giving direction to external partners on outsourced animation assets while staying on schedule. This person will have top-notch animation skills and be able to translate the Art Director's vision into useful feedback for the team.


The ideal candidate for this role has direct experience with in-game animation and working with outsourced teams. You should have the ability to provide clear paint-over and verbal feedback to others, both internally and with external partners. Working knowledge and understanding of visual FX creation and appeal are a plus.


You will be an integral and impactful part of an extremely passionate team of creatives and engineers to build systems and ensure the end-to-end Transfr experience is frictionless and inspirational for our users.


Overall, the Lead Animator plays a critical role in creating the look and feel of our sims through high-quality animations that enhance the user experience.


Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of animators: As the lead animator, you will be responsible for managing and leading a team of animators, delegating tasks, and ensuring that projects are completed on time and to the highest quality.
  • Contributing in developing animation pipelines: You will be responsible for developing and maintaining animation pipelines, ensuring that they are efficient, scalable, and User-friendly.
  • Creating and implementing animations: You will be responsible for creating animations for characters, environments, and objects in the game. This may involve creating keyframe animations, motion capture data, or using procedural animation techniques.
  • Collaborating with other departments: You will work closely with other departments, such as game design, art, and programming, to ensure that animations are integrated smoothly into the game and meet the needs of the project.
  • Providing feedback and guidance: As the lead animator, you will be responsible for providing feedback and guidance to your team, as well as collaborating with other departments to provide feedback on the overall quality of animations in the simulations.
  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends: You will be responsible for staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and techniques in animation, and for implementing them in your work and in the work of your team.
  • Hiring and training: You will be responsible for hiring and training new animators, as well as mentoring and providing career development opportunities for your team members.

Requirements:

  • A passion for designing and developing engaging experiences that will change lives for the better. 
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in VR software development (software) is required and the preferred areas of gaming, educational, professional or consumer products
  • Minimum of 5 years working knowledge of Unity.
  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required.
  • Motion design experience or 3D skills 
  • Familiarity with emerging patterns in interaction design and leading-edge technologies under development.
  • Proven ability to coordinate project deliverables across multiple teams and skill sets while leading multiple projects at once. 
  • Experience leading teams 
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with creativity, independence and high standards 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish objectives, identify problems, analyze data and creatively deliver solutions 
  • Self motivation is key to this position. 
  • Portfolio demonstrating world-class design capabilities.

The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $100K and $140K, with the actual base salary amount dependent on a number of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s credentials, relevant experience, and primary job location. In addition to salary this role will be eligible for additional company benefits such as stock options, 401(k), paid vacation and sick time, and medical/dental/vision insurance.
