Lead Product Designer
Position Summary
Moda is seeking an enterprising individual who will have the opportunity to innovate and the license to make an impact in our busy New York City office. The Lead Product Designer is a proven problem solver with a keen design aesthetic and growth mindset. The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator with analytical mind and the ability to effectively present and advocate ideas. This person will work cross-functionally with Product, eCommerce Marketing, and Technology teams to design products and experiences that are simple and intuitive for users. He/she understands the value of listening carefully and learning from customers and co-workers alike. The Product Designer knows how to get things done while working with a wide variety of personalities and perspectives, and is always up for a challenge.
Design:
- You have at least 7-10 years of experience designing at a user-centric tech or media company
- Your portfolio has some best-in-class work
- You’re a generalist with a sweet spot, or a specialist looking to broaden your skills
- You focus on UI and UX design principles, understand how to gather product requirements, incorporate user research, frame the problem, focus on the user, and articulate and drive a clear design direction
- You believe in craftsmanship and create elegant and compelling designs
- You’re well versed in countless micro-interactions on mobile and web, and have nuanced views on how to make many of them even better
- You can prototype quickly, make last-minute tweaks between user studies, and know how and when to be extremely polished or quick and dirty
- You are able to navigate between exploration and tactical, iterative designs
- You can analyze data, interviews, and research and translate your insights into actionable user flows, layouts, prototypes, and final designs
- You can think systematically and translate complex concepts into simple and intuitive solutions
- You have designed for both consumer and internal facing audiences
Product:
- You are able to articulate why one solution is best for which device, iOS, Android, or others
- You know what detail matters at each stage of a release cycle, and how to motivate your team members to get to the next iteration
- You know how to manage process and product
- You develop strong relationship with product managers, developers, and other product designers
Vision:
- You thrive best when helping to define the requirements, not just translating them into designs
- You facilitate and draw the best design ideas from teammates, not just your own
- You have expert knowledge of analytics and can think and talk about the company’s bottom line
- You have a deep sense of the company’s business model and what will move the needle
