The Lead UX Designer will work alongside the interim Head of Design to lead and drive the User Experience work stream. The Lead UX Designer will have a natural understanding of human behavior and passion for translating this understanding into a delightful and visually appealing product experience for the end user. You will also have an informed point-of-view regarding design and consider the end-to-end customer journey, which encompasses both the digital and physical (or offline) aspects of the product experience.

What You’ll Do:

UX Vision and Strategy

• Develop and communicate the design vision to key stakeholders
• Develop a cohesive set of design principles and logic that drives a consistent and delightful user experience throughout the product
• Leverage ethnographic insights and develop compelling Personas, User-Journeys, and other storytelling frameworks
• Drive robust testing techniques to inform design decisions and high-value solutions
• Consider the end-to-end brand/business/experience to align business and customer problems with design
• Partner with product and design to develop branding strategy
• Inspire multi-disciplinary team members with clear communication, hands-on contribution, and strong advocacy for best practices in Experience Design

UX Implementation

• Participate in visual problem-solving with a cross-functional team and develop choices around design and user interfaces that enable the team to solve customer pain points and challenges
• Create design briefs that outline design iterations, prioritized concepts and timelines
• Identify and collect exemplars and articulate their design logic, benefits and trade-offs
• Develop and prototype low to high fidelity wireframes & visual designs along with the supporting information and content strategy
• Construct quick interactive prototypes that illustrate UI/UX design: functional with modern effects, animations, and transitions as appropriate, that present a realistic feel of the intended experience
• Create style guides, templates, and other helpful frameworks for the design team members
• Translate strategic design into controls, mechanisms and processes that users require to meet goals
• Operate in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines
• Mentor and oversee the work of design team members 

What You’ll Bring:

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with demonstrated leadership roles and exposure to start-up environments
• Strong credibility and relationships within M&T
• Hands-on experience designing UI/UX from conception to minimum viable products to scaled launch & adoption
• Expertise in building interactive prototypes to illustrate UX & UI design for web sites and mobile apps using modern technologies
• Comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams of product managers, strategic, visual, and motion designers, and engineers
• A demonstrated history of accountability and performance delivery, leading teams to meet or exceed objectives
• An entrepreneurial spirit and ability to operate collaboratively with all levels of the organization

Tools

• Mastery of Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and emergent UX tools
• Familiarity with quick prototyping tools such as InVision/Flinto to more detailed prototyping with Origami/Quartz, Xcode, or tools with similar depth

Education (preferred)

• BS or MS in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Information Science
• BS in Computer Science with emphasis on UX development
• BA in Graphic Design with emphasis on UX design
