Block Renovation Senior Architectural Designer

Block is a renovation platform transforming the $450 billion renovation industry. Today, doing a home renovation is an abysmal consumer experience and not easy for contractors either. Block democratizes access to high-end design, while combining design, construction, and materials into a streamlined experience. Block simplifies a complex and convoluted process and gives homeowners certainty on outcomes, quality, price, and time.

ROLE

This role is for someone who wants to be part of an exciting start-up, solving complicated challenges that touch everyday consumers. We are looking for a passionate, adaptable, and motivated interior/architectural designer who can think strategically while also helping us execute on client projects and overall design operations. In addition to working directly with our fast-paced team of designers and our co-founders, you will be interfacing with all functions across the business including contractors, sales, operations, procurement and engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Guide clients through our design system, delivering a high quality experience and an impeccable finished product
  • Generate designs which take aesthetics, execution, and constructability into account.
  • Create design assets and procurement schedules for active client projects
  • Implement processes that help the team improve productivity and achieve monthly goals
  • Execute and iterate on cross-functional projects on time with measurable impact
  • Clearly and proactively communicate with design team and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Coordinate drawings and details, for ongoing projects and to improve the overall Block process
  • Ability to understand impact of daily work on broader business while identifying opportunities to develop and improve Block's design system, using quantitative and qualitative data
  • Build and contribute to a great team culture
  • Continue to develop professionally within the company and wider entrepreneurial community

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 6-10 years of professional experience in architecture or interior design
  • Fluency with Revit, Bluebeam, Google Suite, and Adobe Creative suite is a must
  • Fluency with 2020 kitchen design software is a bonus
  • Passionate about creating great consumer experiences
  • Self-motivated, energetic, highly detail-oriented and organized
  • You see problems as fuel
