Company Description:

Quartet is a pioneering technology company connecting physical and mental care to improve people’s health and quality of life. We are building a collaborative technology platform that brings together physicians, mental health providers, and insurance companies to effectively improve patient outcomes and drive down healthcare costs. Our data-driven platform identifies high-need patients and facilitates access to personalized care. Backed by $92MM in venture funding from top investors like GV (formerly Google Ventures) and Oak HC/FT, Quartet is headquartered in NYC and is currently operating in several markets across the US -- Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Louisiana, Washington, Northern California, and New Jersey.

About the team:

We need a seasoned professional to help spearhead this effort because you will be the first and sole (for now!) design research specialist at Quartet! You will be a part of a small but growing Product Design team, reporting directly to the Director of Design. We’re a low-ego, high-trust team invested in each others’ personal and professional growth. We’re constantly looking for opportunities to spread the value of design thinking across Quartet and improve on processes both inside and outside of the design team. With buy-in from the executive level, we’re looking to expand our research capability in 2019 in support of major product evolution and invention.

Accountabilities

  • Set up the basic infrastructure and processes for running research effectively (e.g. recruiting, NDAs, defining and prioritizing projects, standardizing documentation)
  • Evangelize and demonstrate the power of research throughout the organization
  • Uncover and communicate actionable insights that will help us improve the lives of people with mental health conditions
  • Mentor & guide other designers to plan, execute, and incorporate best practices in design research into their projects, including coaching individual designers who are looking to grow their own skills
  • Occasional travel (~15%) to markets (including west coast) to conduct research activities with patients and providers
  • In your first 6 months at Quartet you may:

  • Develop a deep understanding of barriers, including stigma and social determinants of health, that keep patients from receiving adequate mental health treatment
  • Help reinvent Quartet’s approach to connecting patients identified by our data science team as high-need with appropriate care pathways
  • Investigate engagement models in order for Quartet to connect more deeply with physical and mental health providers, patients, and their families, community health workers and alternative care providers
  • Expand and advance Quartet’s support to patients who are traditionally underserved with regard to mental health, such as those who are under 18 years of age and Medicaid recipients

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience conducting design research in the healthcare industry or complex enterprise setting
  • A portfolio of past experience that demonstrates your process and highlights your skill in conducting and synthesizing various types of research as well as how the insights you uncovered impacted the design of products and services
  • Demonstrated skill and creativity for selecting the right mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to provide actionable insights to research questions and business goals, and the capacity to invent new methods when the right user method does not exist

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in human centered design, human computer interaction, anthropology, or similar

Employee Benefits for Quartet include: Unlimited vacation, volunteer opportunities, catered lunches, snacks, team events and outings, full medical, dental + vision coverage, generous parental leave, commuter benefits, 15 free therapy sessions + unlimited copay reimbursements for mental healthcare, 401K, ESPP, gym benefits.
