We are looking to hire a Director of UX Research to drive all research initiatives for our products, services and experiences, build out a research team, and stand-up our research practice. As part of our Product Design team, you will partner with Product Managers, Designers, Engineering, and Ops to identify, define, execute, and synthesize high-impact research that informs + inspires CLEAR on how to deliver best-in-class experiences.

As CLEAR’s UX Research thought-leader and methods-expert, you will be the fierce advocate for our consumers, members, ambassadors, and the businesses who touch our products and services. In this role, you’ll be collaborating with leaders across Design, Engineering, and Product Management teams to create brilliant and engaging experiences for CLEAR, leveraging your passion for great UX!

What You Will Do:

  • Define and execute research studies that improve how people experience CLEAR based on identifying the right methods that answer the right questions that help teams achieve important agreed-upon outcomes.
  • Drive the collection, analysis and documentation of user behavioral data through qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Generate actionable insights that fuel ideation, shape our Product experiences, and influence how Product teams think about near-in to long-term Product strategy.
  • Provide consulting to Product + Design on methods, approaches, and tools that enable teams to execute UX Research themselves.
  • Grow + operationalize our UX Research practice creating processes, assets + guidelines to continuously improve the scoping, efficiency + quality of output of every research initiative.
  • Create alignment on research roadmaps that will have the biggest impact on addressing CLEAR’s big growth objectives.
  • Oversee research vendors/agencies that we may engage to augment our research capabilities as we grow our research team.

Who You Are:

  • 8+ years of experience leading UX Research projects, ideally at a consumer-facing Product-led company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction or a related field
  • Expertise in a breadth of qualitative research frameworks, tools and methods, such as  in-person/remote interviews, co-creation, card-sorting, and concept/usability testing.
  • Experience with modern quantitative research tools and methods, including surveys, tree-testing, A/B testing and statistical analysis
  • Strong ability to present compelling narratives for qualitative and quantitative research recommendations in a way that drives decisions and actions for leadership and teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams through problem-solving, collaboration, and decision-making.

We are located in the Chelsea neighborhood on Manhattan's west side. Chelsea is the primary art district within the borough.
